Braves 9, Dodgers 3

The Braves exploded for the offense they were missing entirely yesterday and take the win from the Dodgers setting up the rubber match tomorrow.

Jair Jurrjens got the win, 9-4. Chad Billingsley took the loss, he's 8-8.

Chad Billingsley, following one of his better outings of the season, had one of his worst. He went 5 and 1/3 innings giving up six runs, five earned. Actually, when he left the game, he had given up four runs and had two runners to his credit on base, but in a sign of things to come, Ramon Troncoso allowed both inherited runners to score. He did, however, pitch a scoreless inning in the following inning. Joe Beimel, though, started the 8th inning, getting only two outs while giving up a run. Cory Wade came in to close the 8th, but surrendered back-to-back homeruns to Mark Teixeira and Brian McCann (his second homerun on the night).

The Dodgers offense, meanwhile, was unable to mount much against Jurrjens. They scored only one run on a check swing double by James Loney. They were able to scratch across two more in the 9th, but at that point, it was too little, too late.

The Dodgers will try to win the series tomorrow at 7:10 L.A. time. The Dodgers are 1-4 this season against the Braves so far.
