Hiroki Kuroda pitched a great game for the Dodgers. He was perfect through seven innings before giving up a leadoff double to Mark Teixeira in the 8th.
He then settled down and retired the next six batters to shut down the Braves the rest of the way on one hit. Kuroda was quick and efficient, he struck out six, but for the most part pitched to contact, making just 91 pitches to complete the game. Kuroda now has two of the three Dodger shutouts on the year.Offensively, the Dodgers were able to put three runs on the board for Kuroda. The big shot came from Nomar Garciaparra, who hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the 5th off a hanging breaking ball. Blake DeWitt also collected three hits and Matt Kemp also knocked in a run on a single to center to make up the five hits the Dodgers got in the game.
It's been a good start in July for the Dodgers, and they'll try to continue this hot playing tomorrow at 7:10 L.A. time.
