Eric Stults gets the win in his first start of the year after being called up, he's 1-0. Aaron Harang takes the loss, he's 3-10. Takashi Saito picks up his 10th save.
Eric Stults, just up from Las Vegas went six innings, striking out five, and giving up just three runs, only one of which was an earned run. The Dodgers got in some trouble in the seventh inning, but got out of it giving up only four runs. Jonathan
Broxton pitched a scoreless eighth, and Saito pitched a scoreless ninth for his tenth save.Meanwhile, the Dodgers were able to mount some good offense. Matt Kemp went 2-5 with a double and a homerun, knocking in three runs. James Loney continued his hot hitting, going 3-4, with a walk and a double. Everyone in the starting lineup had a hit today, including the pitcher Stults. Andre Ethier and Ángel Berroa each had two hits. Altogether, the Dodgers collected six extra-base hits on the day.
The Dodgers outscored the Reds 16-6 in the three game sweep, and won a series for the first time since the last time they played the Reds (May 19-21). They'll try to take some momentum with them into the weekend when they take on the Cleveland Indians. The first game is tomorrow, starting at 7:40 L.A. time.
